Thinking about declaring an English major or minor? Great! We’re so excited that you’re considering joining our department! If you are interested in declaring an English major, there are two tracks available: Literature and Creative Writing. The concentration in literary criticism emphasizes the history and analysis of literature from Chaucer and Shakespeare through Comic Books and Hip Hop poetics. The concentration in creative writing teaches the skills of fiction and poetry through small, workshop-based studio courses.
Declaring an English major is easy.
All you need to do is attend a New Major meeting. Meetings are scheduled throughout the semester at different days and times. Go to the portal for the Academic Advising site: myCUHub.colorado.edu, sign in, select “New Major Minor Information” select English or Creative Writing to see available meetings, which are the blue links on the calendar.
