Thinking about declaring an English major or minor? Great! We’re so excited that you’re considering joining our department! If you are interested in declaring an English major, there are two tracks available: Literature and Creative Writing. The concentration in literary criticism emphasizes the history and analysis of literature from Chaucer and Shakespeare through Comic Books and Hip Hop poetics. The concentration in creative writing teaches the skills of fiction and poetry through small, workshop-based studio courses.
You can declare an English major or minor either online through MyCUHub or in person with an English advisor. To declare online, go to myCUHub.colorado.edu, sign in, and navigate to the “Schedule an Appointment” section. Select the “Add, Drop, Change, or Interested in Major/Minor” option, and follow the prompts to add a major or minor.
If you’d prefer to declare with an advisor, meetings are scheduled throughout the semester at different days and times. To view meeting times, go to myCUHub.colorado.edu, sign in, select “New Major Minor Information,” then select English or Creative Writing to see available meetings, which are the blue links on the calendar.
If you have an assigned English advisor and have questions, contact them directly through email:
